THIS IS FOR MY MASSCOM 3 PAPER. I NEED SOMEWHERE TO SAVE THIS. DON'T MIND.I have always hated politics not only because it is a greasy subject, but also because even though it is the dirtiest profession (if that is what it is called) ever, I cannot deny the fact that it affects the country greatlyâ??monumentally even.
So I cannot just ignore the subject and say, â??Whatever. Itâ??s not my funeral.â?? But it is, sadly. It is everyoneâ??s.
Still, that doesnâ??t stop me from throwing aside politically-stained articles in exchange for lighter news, say murders and international issues. Those I can face instead of Erap, GMA, and whatnot.
Now my worst fear has come to life: an assignment regarding politics. And on a subject which I know little about, too.
I will try my best to squeeze out everything I rememberâ?¦
I agree with Virgil Santos on many accounts.
First, when he mentioned Noliâ??s continuance of anchoring ABS-CBNâ??s evening news while he hosted â??Jeep in Erapâ??.
Admittedly, that move made a very slight dent in Noliâ??s credibility because he came out as a bit biased. With â??Jeep ni Erapâ?? as a brainchild of the pro-Estrada administration, Noliâ??s newscasting carried arrows subtly pointing to the impeached leader.
Noli somewhat became a walking advertisement for Erap.
Second, regarding Estradaâ??s far-from-perfect hearings, I still agree.
Indeed, Erap kept contradicting himself, and it was pretty obvious. That part of the article reminded me of Eddie Gil, who was the embodiment of a political circus akin to the freak show mentioned in Lemony Snicketâ??s â??A Series of Unfortunate Eventsâ??.
Gil was a bad joke. It was like watching a three-year old attending a meeting with bigwig tycoons.
Completely ridiculous.
It was much like Erap blurting out one thing and then another, not minding that what he just said opposed his previous statements.
Third, Dong and Noli do have a connection. Santos mentioned that â??Dong has been trying desperately to squiggle out of his pastâ?? and Noli with an â??attempt to squiggle out of his past with Estrada.â??
Dong tried to erase the remnants of his blotched liaison with Estrada, specifically the lawyering. He almost hardly did any work to help Estrada, with his lack of words and all.
Who could blame him? Erapâ??s self-contradiction would render Dongâ??s services useless.
As for Noli and his attempts at starting on a new piece of parchment, itâ??s going fairly well. Although I must say, he should have ran for senator first before aiming for vice-presidency.
Sure, heâ??s popular and the mass loves him, but I think he couldâ??ve achieved more if he were a senator. He couldâ??ve done more for education and the environment.
But, oh well, heâ??s Vice President already. No use crying over spilled milk.
So, what does make Ricardo â??Dongâ?? Puno Jr. and Noli de Castro different from each other? Besides the basics like how their names are spelled, birth dates, and such, pretty much nothing.
