THIS IS FOR MY MASSCOM 3 PAPER. I NEED SOMEWHERE TO SAVE THIS. DON'T MIND.

I have always hated politics not only because it is a greasy subject, but also because even though it is the dirtiest profession (if that is what it is called) ever, I cannot deny the fact that it affects the country greatlyâ??monumentally even.
So I cannot just ignore the subject and say, â??Whatever. Itâ??s not my funeral.â?? But it is, sadly. It is everyoneâ??s.
Still, that doesnâ??t stop me from throwing aside politically-stained articles in exchange for lighter news, say murders and international issues. Those I can face instead of Erap, GMA, and whatnot.
Now my worst fear has come to life: an assignment regarding politics. And on a subject which I know little about, too.
I will try my best to squeeze out everything I rememberâ?¦
I agree with Virgil Santos on many accounts.
First, when he mentioned Noliâ??s continuance of anchoring ABS-CBNâ??s evening news while he hosted â??Jeep in Erapâ??.
Admittedly, that move made a very slight dent in Noliâ??s credibility because he came out as a bit biased. With â??Jeep ni Erapâ?? as a brainchild of the pro-Estrada administration, Noliâ??s newscasting carried arrows subtly pointing to the impeached leader.
Noli somewhat became a walking advertisement for Erap.
Second, regarding Estradaâ??s far-from-perfect hearings, I still agree.
Indeed, Erap kept contradicting himself, and it was pretty obvious. That part of the article reminded me of Eddie Gil, who was the embodiment of a political circus akin to the freak show mentioned in Lemony Snicketâ??s â??A Series of Unfortunate Eventsâ??.
Gil was a bad joke. It was like watching a three-year old attending a meeting with bigwig tycoons.
Completely ridiculous.
It was much like Erap blurting out one thing and then another, not minding that what he just said opposed his previous statements.
Third, Dong and Noli do have a connection. Santos mentioned that â??Dong has been trying desperately to squiggle out of his pastâ?? and Noli with an â??attempt to squiggle out of his past with Estrada.â??
Dong tried to erase the remnants of his blotched liaison with Estrada, specifically the lawyering. He almost hardly did any work to help Estrada, with his lack of words and all.
Who could blame him? Erapâ??s self-contradiction would render Dongâ??s services useless.
As for Noli and his attempts at starting on a new piece of parchment, itâ??s going fairly well. Although I must say, he should have ran for senator first before aiming for vice-presidency.
Sure, heâ??s popular and the mass loves him, but I think he couldâ??ve achieved more if he were a senator. He couldâ??ve done more for education and the environment.
But, oh well, heâ??s Vice President already. No use crying over spilled milk.
So, what does make Ricardo â??Dongâ?? Puno Jr. and Noli de Castro different from each other? Besides the basics like how their names are spelled, birth dates, and such, pretty much nothing.

Bookworm Attack

Posted by imas at 07:17 PM on April 7, 2006.

I finally finished reading nine--count that--nine books! Whew! Took me a week. I could've gone faster, but I have summer classes and all.
So what books did I dive into?

JRR Tolkien:
* The Hobbit
* Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
* Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers
* Lord of the Rings: Return of the King
Lemony Snicket:
* A Series of Unfortunate Events: A Bad Beginning
* A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Reptile Room
* A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Wide Window
* A Series of Unfortunate Events: The Miserable Mill
Dan Brown:
* Angels and Demons

So, about Tolkien's fascinating Middle Earth novels...they're that exactly--fascinating. It's so incredible how Tolkien weaved this entire universe and explain even the most minute detail to such richness.

I haven't read The Silmarillion yet, as the copy wasn't included in the box set, but I'm still waiting until it shows itself in the bookstore. I'm not even going to download an online copy of it--too long and too tiring to read it in the computer. And besided being a waste of electricity, I would probably drain the ink tanks if I printed it out. No, school work should do that.

Then there's Snicket's ASoUE. Very clear and captivating. I loved the way he'd explain a word when it seemed to sound foreign to the common reader. And he connected certain phrases and idioms to events in the book that would make me say, "Oh, that's right! That's what it means..." It's totally alluring, although I wish the Baudelaire orphans would soon get out of their sticky end.

I saw the movie, (and Jim Carrey's portrayal of the devilish Count Olaf is still stuck in my mind) but it ended until Book 4. Can't wait for the second installation of the trilogy!

And lastly, the controversial Mr. Brown's Angels and Demons. Honestly, I don't know what the fuss is all about. Clearly his novels and fictions. (And that sounded redundant.) I think he's a brilliant writer and I don't really care how lambasted he is. I read The Da Vinci Code already and honestly, my faith hasn't wavered.

He even has some good points, like how contradicting school is. They teach us the Big Bang Theory in Science, then Genesis in Religious Education. So, which is it? Science or Religion? Matter or God? School should get their priorities straight.

Birthdays

Posted by imas at 07:16 PM on April 7, 2006.

Yesterday was our beloved Alpha Company Commander, Natu's birthday. (Belated! Are you 17 or 18?)

Today is Lady and Leovy's 18th. No, they're not related. Just so happens their names start with L.

I got invited to Lady's debut. It's tomorrow at D'Family Park, 4-9 PM. And I still have no gown. How does one fit into a gown one hasn't stepped into for a year and ten days? It itches and it's a size too small. I know I hardly gained weight nor had a growth spurt, but it actually doesn't fit anymore. I swear, it probably shrunk out of hurt feelings when I stuffed it into my closet and didn't touch it again since the Seniors' Ball...

Poor gown. Poor me.

I realized I can't go buy a new one. And I don't have that many gal pals to borrow gowns from. I am in such a rut.

I'd probably end up not going, much to Bern's dismay. She threatened to pound me to a pulp if I didn't go...

Website

Posted by imas at 06:39 PM on April 4, 2006.

The website is going bonkers once again. Happens once every layout-change. Oh well...

The ImageMap isn't hitting the target frame and the target frame itself magically resiezed itself. Plus, one image isn't loading.

Hmmm...

I think this means the Girly-Girl Phase isn't working for me.

I'll have to move on to Geek Freak Phase then...

Phases I'll Need to Go Through to Discover My Identity:
1. Angsty Teen (done, okay)
2. Girly-Girl (done? haywire)
3. Geek Freak (coming soon)

Quick update

Posted by imas at 06:43 AM on April 4, 2006.

I knew I shouldn't've went to school yesterday. English 3 was the only class that made sense, although Dr. Lupango only kept us in SL1 for an hour.

Math was a no-show. A lot of suspense for us, since we were hoping a terror teacher wouldn't handle the class. Guess we'll just have to see today...

There was no Nat.Sci. class either. I didn't bother to go up anymore, since it was so obvious.

Haaaaay...sayanga sa pliti...
